Descrption: e-ISOTIS participates in Careers without Barriers (CWB), a project partially financed by the Community Vocational Training Action under the Leonardo Da Vinci Programme. CWB aims at creating a new profession of a usability & accessibility tester, specifically targeting people with disabilities. The project will involve disabled people closely with accessibility experts in making (small and medium) enterprises and public buildings accessible for people with disabilities that are working there, and that want to participate fully in the professional working environment. The target group comprises persons who want to get further qualification as accessibility experts (e.g. architects, industrial designers, civil servants of public administrations, facility-, quality- and human resources managers, etc.), and people with learning, physical, psychological, visual or hearing disabilities who want to get a qualification as usability and accessibility testers. The objectives of the project are the development of a qualification programme consisting of two curricula: - A curriculum for qualification of accessibility experts. - A curriculum for training usability & accessibility testers This project is a European one and comprises 7 organisations from 6 different member states - INFORMATION SOCIETY OPEN TO IMPAIRMENTS, e-ISOTIS, (Greece) - ALPHA NOVA, (Austria) - Verein Atempo, (Austria) - Federación Provincial de Asociaciones de Minusválidos Físicos de Córdoba, Fepamic, (Spain) - Euro-training, (Bulgaria) - Loeschke – freier Architekt BDA/DWB, (Germany): - Greenhat Interactive, (UK)
More information can be found on: www.careers-without-barriers.org e-ISOTIS (Information Society Open To ImpairmentS) is a non-profit making organisation founded in December 2002, working closely with People with Disabilities, Elderly, their spouses as well as members of the ICT (Information Communication Technology) community, worldwide. Currently, its associated members represent 350.000 people with impairments, located in European countries. e-ISOTIS’ scope is to ensure that people with disabilities, elderly and their families are fully involved in the preparations and activities in line with the slogan "nothing about people with disabilities without people with disabilities". By supporting People with Disabilities and elderly, e-ISOTIS aims at assisting its members in overcoming the existing barriers and experiencing an Information Society that opens up new opportunities for development, prosperity and quality of life.
