After successful beta testing, MicroWorld Technologies, a researcher and developer of Internet communication and security software, has now formally announced the commercial launch of X-Spam product "X-Spam for Microsoft Exchange 2000-2003", a Spam eXterminator for servers and workstations.

X-Spam uses advanced Heuristic Filter engine combined with Regular Expression and Meta Tests, which refine Spam identification to an art, to positively identify Spam and block it. The product uses more than 700 rules of regular expressions to check e-mail headers and blacklisted servers to get an accuracy of almost 98% in fighting Spam.

X-Spam uses Heuristics Scoring to reduce the probability of catching legitimate e-mails as Spam. These scores are generated using a Genetic algorithm.

X-Spam for Exchange 2000-2003 is maintenance free software and once installed, will run on its own and stay updated by automatically downloading the latest Rule Sets. An intuitive interface is provided to further customise the filter, scoring and other Spam fighting options. With its AI-based score generation, X-Spam prevents legitimate mail from being tagged as Spam.

“E-mail being the most ubiquitous mode of communication today, its efficiency is being marred by spammers, who have started to use this medium in order to hawk their unwanted wares. With the prospect of being blacklisted, they have also resorted to using viruses and worms as a vehicle to push across their mails to unsuspecting users,” said Govind Rammurthy, CEO and MD, MicroWorld.

Features of X-Spam include Mail Protocol Layer Checks, Real-time Black List (RBL), Dialup User's List (DUL), MX/A DNS record verification, Reverse DNS, IP/Host/User Restriction From List, Host/User Restriction To List, E-mail Content Checks, Domain/User Content Check White List, Regular Expression and Content Filter, Meta Filter and Heuristics among others.
