According to findings of the 2006 Department of Trade and Industry's biennial Information Security Breaches Survey, 40% of these incidents were described as having a serious impact on the business. The complete report will be launched at Infosecurity Europe in London, 25-27th April. Infections caused by Viruses and Worms have created the largest number of service interruptions compared to other incidents. A quarter of the companies who partook in the survey reported major destructions like email system wreck and more. Another important finding of the survey is that 25% percent of the companies do not have protection against spyware, one of the biggest threats in business information integrity. As a result, one in seven of the incidents have been caused by spyware intrusion through web access.
