Descrption: Pulheim, 14th January 2005. The Federal Office for the Alternative Civilian Service will further elaborate its virtual consulting system KomNet. By expanding the knowledge management system, the Federal Offices will be able to respond to enquiries in a more precise and customer-oriented way.
The helpdesk is based on a regularly updated and dynamic database that contains expert knowledge. Therefore, the responsible employees are able to search the knowledge base by means of catchwords or categories and to generate adequate answers to enquiries. The knowledge management system is based on structured processes that are defined and controlled by the Workflow system COSA. This powerful tool assists responsible users in finding adequate solutions to specific problems in a large amount of information.
The consulting system of the Federal Office for the Alternative Civilian Service is based on the competence network KomNet implemented at the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of Economics and Labor. Since 1999, KomNet is used successfully as online consulting system in the area of industrial safety and health. With slight modifications, the system is also used at the Federal Ministry for Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and by the police in Schleswig-Holstein. The competency network KomNet based on COSA has already earned several awards, among others the award "The very best practice of eGovernment in Europe today" by the European Commission and the German eGovernment award. |
