Descrption:
Science has changed the way we look at the world. Time magazine did not name a politician or a humanist as the icon of the 20th century. It named Albert Einstein as the greatest person of the 20th century. His contribution to science that led to harnessing of latent energy by splitting atom has changed the entire landscape of humanity; the splitting of atom was the biggest event of the 20th century. His contribution towards understanding light through his theories of relativity has completely altered the human mindset. What were thought as absolutes changed completely overnight. Einstein also famously apologized to Newton for stating that there is no such thing as absolute in our world.

Not only Einstein but scores of great scientists helped to revive science in all its glory. It was a famous quote at the end of 19th century which stood out most ironical. A famous scientists said that whatever had to be invented had been invented. And within the next twenty years, Einstein made his famous discoveries; radio, television and airplane were invented and everyone saw a complete paradigm shift in the world.

Science was the hottest topic, and then suddenly the interest veered off after the 2nd world war. More and more people started gravitating towards engineering, medicine and humanities. Though the later half of the century produced brilliant scientists, still the interest at school and college level decreased alarmingly,

There were many reasons for the decline, for one science for kids was no longer interesting. Seeing the affluence around, more kids opted for subjects that allowed them to part of an affluent and a consumerist society. Instead of working in a lab pondering over the next great discovery, people were arguing cases in courts as it gave them more money and prestige.

Instead of creators, children became imitators and followers. Instead of thinking about the next best thing for the mankind, they started thinking about the next best thing for themselves.

It is not just the parents or the system to be blamed for kids’ lack of interest in science but tutors too. Tutors gave more importance on other subjects. Tutors also continued in the traditional methods of teaching science that kept many a students away.

Today, however things are changing and changing for good. Thanks to the net revolution and pioneering work of some tireless people, science is coming back to its glorious days.

For starters, science is being taught in a fun way. Science was always supposed to be taught as a practical and a fun subject. This is coming back thanks to extensive usage of graphics and visuals. Internet provides a non-judgmental and an ideal environment to learn science. Science for kids through internet has great potential for bringing back the lost interest in science.

There are also some great discoveries being made in the area of biological research and space science. These are exciting times for science again, and thus learning science would be the most exciting thing to do right now.
