Descrption:
The Free Catholic Church of Europe Communion of Churches, along with the Old Catholic Church of Great Britain have agreed to despatch an Envoy to support the present peace talks between Israel and Lebanon.

Archbishop Gary Beaver spoke on behalf of the House of Bishops of the European Orthodox Old Catholic faith community in Luxembourg this week, stating ““We condemn terrorism in all its forms, including the recent hostage taking by Hezbollah of the Israeli soldiers and its rocket attacks on Northern Israel, but we can only regard the Israeli response as totally disproportionate. As Primus, I lead the Church in the call for an immediate cease-fire. It is imperitive for an expeditious road to peace, that a Jewish, Christian and Muslim panel of religious leaders and communities be brought together in a coordinated effort to promote a just and lasting peace in the Middle East”

The Free Catholic Church of Europe, a branch of Old Orthodox Catholicism not under Papal rule since 1870, has drafted an official document relating to the proposed “ Multifaith Leadership Initiative” drawn up in order to commence a clear and sustainable Arab-Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

His Eminence, Archbishop Gary, has sent a clear message to every Old Catholic community around the world, stating “We must all promote our respective governments to facilitate a just resolution of the conflict so that each individual in the Holy Land can live in dignity and peace with stability and respect for human rights and religious freedom. Any postponement in securing a ceasefire would amount to an unacceptable submission in the escalation of suffering of innocent men, women and children and the continuing destruction of essential infrastructure”.”

During the Middle East conference in Rome on Wednesday, Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Siniora gave an emotional speech asking whether Lebanese were “children of a lesser God,” following talks ending without consensus on immediate cease-fire.

The Free Catholic Church of Europe has commenced its peace program with the clear message “ May the God of peace fill our hearts and our world with peace “
