Hyderabad, 8-sep. A new data backup service is now available in India; online remote backup. The service is offered by Backup-Connect, a Netherlands based firm. Online backup service is widely used in USA and Europe where it has proven to be more efficient then the traditional server and tapes based backup methods. The biggest advantage of the online backup is that data is stored outside the premises of the company in a secured data centre. As a result of this, data can always be recovered from any PC connected to the internet. The backup is made everyday automatically without any manual interaction.
Every day a backup is made automatically of the customer’s data. This data is then send over the internet and stored in a location outside the premises of the customer, where it is safe from fire, theft and local natural disasters. Data is first encrypted and compressed on the local PC before it is send over the internet. Backup-Connect uses the latest technology for the security of the data.
With Backup-Connect customers do not have to invest in hardware such as tapes or servers for making the backup. Customers only require an internet connection. Everything else is arranged by Backup-Connect. Data can be restored anytime and anywhere. Data is always encrypted before it is transferred over the internet. The encryption key is only known to the customer so that only the customer is able to read the data.
Backup data is compressed up to 50% so that it can be transferred quickly without using large amounts of internet bandwidth. Customer can choose the time and how frequently the backup should be made. After every backup session the customer will receive a report from Backup-Connect.
