Morocco's GDP
Morocco's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 6.5 percent in third quarter of 2006 compared to 2.1% the previous year, said on Wednesday, the High Commissioner for Planning (HCP).
This important evolution is due mostly to Agricultural GDP jump (29.9% compared to an 18.5% slump in 2005) while non-agricultural growth slid to 3.2% from 5.9% in the third quarter of 2005, according to figures on national accounts released by the HCP.
In terms of activity sectors, HCP said that except for the mining, energy and public administration sectors, which registered a growth lower than 0.5%, all the other sectors reached a growth rate higher than 2.5%.
Trade services contributed 6.7% to the GDP compared to 2.5% in 2005 while construction and public works GDP gained 6.6% (against 6.4%) and transports and communications GDP increased by 6.2%.
According to official estimates, the kingdom’s economy is expected to grow 7.5% this year, up from 1.7% in 2005 and to grow 3.5% in 2007. |
