Descrption: Some would argue that Internet music promotion on the Internet is saturated. According to recent studies, more than 10 websites currently exist on the Internet for musicians to post their music. What exactly is Internet music promotion and why is the first thought that comes to mind “oh that’s been done” when they hear about an upcoming music-rating site?
The fact about Internet music promotion is that at its core, it is exposure. Bands and musicians need exposure. American Idol last year had nearly thirty thousand applicants. Musicians need exposure like artists need a canvas. They cannot be broken apart. But why do many musicians fear the Internet as a medium to promote their music? Many musicians believe that the Internet is saturated with websites and many websites do not promise anything except for their music to be rated. Other musicians find music promotion on the Internet to be competitive and sometimes even insulting. The simple fact to the matter is thousands of musicians at this very second are doing what they love, singing, rapping, screaming, even mixing! Some would think that the Internet would be a great place to promote your music identity but that isn’t the case anymore. Nearly twenty popular websites exist that promote the idea that you can post your music online, get it rated, and in the end you’re just a musician with his or her music online. There is no promise for a record contract or even a promise for more exposure. That is all about to change.
Blue Beam Radio (http://www.bluebeamradio.com) went online earlier this month with the promise of a concert in the Fall for independent musicians. The site is a great resource for artists or musicians who want to be heard and want to get their music out there. Musicians can upload their music, create band pages, create a name for themselves on the site and climb up the song charts. If they reach the top of any song chart their music is played on Blue Beam’s free internet radio station and also they have the chance to perform in concert in the Fall in Manhattan, New York.
