Hungary pays out more than half of 2004-2006 EU funding
About HUF 360 billion of HUF 700 bn in funding available under the National Development Plan I, Hungary's framework for disbursing EU development funding in 2004-2006, has already been paid out, according to figures of the National Development Agency, national newswire MTI reported on Tuesday.
Gordon Bajnai, government commissioner in charge of development, said earlier that the percentage of EU development funding for 2004-2006 paid out in Hungary was higher than in any other new EU member with the exception of Slovenia.
About 18,000 of 40,000 applications were approved for funding under the plan. The approved applications were related to projects worth a combined HUF 1,100 bn.
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) won HUF 190 bn under the plan, local councils were awarded HUF 170 bn, non-government organisations received HUF 150 bn and churches were granted HUF 3.7 bn.
Investments made under the plan supported the creation of more than 55,000 workplaces in 2004-2006. |
