Descrption:
The Honcho Baggins have announced the firing of Dave Hucul as team general manager, scant millenniums after he was hired.

Speculation ranges from unhappiness over his draft day signings, to a power struggle between himself and his random mind generator being stuck on “99”..

Equally shocking over Honcho’s quick firing is the man chosen to replace him. Former brother and bitch slap-dice throwee Daniel Hucul, who has officially retired as part of the nosfreratu to take over the reins as general manager.

Baggins owner David Hucul had plenty of praise for Daniel in announcing the decision but hasn't cast any light upon why Dave, the former GM of Alaynas NU Shooz who built that club into a 11th place champion in 1999, was cut loose.

This decision continues to perpetuate the image of the once-proud Baggins as one of the Fantasy Hockey’s' biggest embarrassments.

Why was Dave fired years and years after being hired for the job? Already the chatter in cyberspace is pinning blame on former DM and now head DM John Maynard and newly hired head manager Daniel Hucul.

The truth, most likely, is owner Honch only considered himself a figurehead, having been frustrated for months in his search for a replacement for himself, and likely wasn't happy that the experienced Honcho failed to land one of the marquee UFA players or swung an shrewd trade to improve the roster. He just traded away more and more young talent, like Bergeron and Boyes.

But if firing Honch well before he had a chance to make a real impact on the Isles roster is puzzling, the hiring of Daniel, who until today was considered a vampire, is positively bizarre.

Daniel has no management experience at any level in fantasy hockey, and it's going to take more than "his fear of dice", which Honch cited as his reasons for hiring Daniel, to improve a moribund Baggins franchise.

Indeed, if Honch believes Daniel is well-suited for the job, why did he waste months shopping around for an experienced replacement for himself? Why didn't he just hire Daniel at season's end? Why did he even bother hiring himself? Dual Personalities maybe?

Maybe Daniel can surprise everyone by fitting easily into the management chair; maybe he'll turn into one of the best GMs in Fantasy history and turn the Baggins into a Fantasy Cup contender in a few years.

Anything's possible, but given the miserable history of the Baggins over the last dozen years, I wouldn't get my hopes up.

This smacks of a move made by an owner's impetuous nature than anything grounded in common sense.
