HMS Software, a leading provider of project management and enterprise timesheet solutions, has received confirmation that it has achieved Microsoft’s Independent Software (ISV) Competency. This adds to the Information Worker Competency already completed by HMS and brings the company one step closer to Microsoft’s top level of partner: Gold Certified Status. “Achieving the ISV competency was a team effort by our HMS Staff,” says Chris Vandersluis, president of HMS Software. “We are already a Microsoft Certified Partner and last year was awarded an Information Worker Competency based on our work in Project Management. This step is based on testing of our TimeControl enterprise timesheet product.” HMS submitted TimeControl to Microsoft to be tested under stringent conditions by Veritest, a third-party independent testing facility. To achieve ISV status, TimeControl had to pass the Microsoft Platform Tests for both Server and Client operation. TimeControl is HMS Software’s enterprise timesheet system designed for project environments. “Although TimeControl has been on the market since 1994, we had never submitted it for the extensive testing that the ISV competency calls for,” explains Stephen Eyton-Jones, HMS Software’s Director of Technical Services. “We had to work with both Microsoft and Veritest in advance to ensure that we covered all the categories prior to submission. Both organizations were tremendously helpful in making sure we had the tools we needed to prepare for the Platform Test.” Completing the ISV Competency opens new avenues for HMS to work with Microsoft field personnel with TimeControl. “Microsoft extends numerous programs for ISV partners to companies like HMS Software,” says Julie Benard, HMS’s Microsoft liaison. “We’ll be able to tap into solution directories, get marketing assistance and be better able to explain the benefits of TimeControl to Microsoft sales personnel all over the world. TimeControl has been on the market since 1984 and is in use in approximately 300 companies with over 100,000 users worldwide. It is a timesheet designed to integrate to both project management tools such as Microsoft Project and to Finance systems such as SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, Great Plains and Solomon. The completion of a second Microsoft Partner competency brings HMS Software close to the elite level of Partner Certification; Gold Certified Status. “Our next step is to complete the work we need to do to become a Gold Certified Partner,” says Vandersluis. “Our work with Microsoft in Canada, the US, Europe and with Microsoft Headquarters indicates how important this relationship is for HMS.
