 Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (www.habitatla.org) and three Los Angeles area Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Chapters are breaking ground to build a home for a family in need. On Saturday, March 24 at 10:30 am Habitat for Humanity representatives, Thrivent Financial representatives, Lutheran volunteers, and the Lopez family will gather at the 112th Street build site in South Los Angeles to celebrate the groundbreaking for their new home.

WHO: Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and Habitat Partner Family, the Lopez family.

WHAT: Groundbreaking ceremony for second Habitat home, fully-funded by Thrivent Financial’s Thrivent Builds program in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles.

WHEN: Saturday, March 24, 2007

WHY: Maria Lopez, a single mother of four who currently lives in a converted garage, will soon celebrate homeownership thanks to a partnership with Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent Financial. Thrivent Financial’s Thrivent Builds program works with Habitat to build safe, affordable housing nationwide. The Lopez’ home will be the second to be fully-funded by the organization in Los Angeles in just two years. Groundbreaking is scheduled for Saturday, March 24th and Maria Lopez and her children are expected to be able to move into their new home December 2007 – just in time for the Holidays!
