Descrption:
With over 23,000 summer camp programs in the US, you can bet most children today are not lounging on hammocks or sitting in the back of a shady truck eating sunflower seeds under the hot summer sun. Camps keep kids in structured activities and off the electronics. They cost big bucks, anywhere from $250 to thousands of dollars a week. For frugal families looking for inexpensive summer activities, bring camp to the kids. These activities can be much less expensive and a lot of fun. These and other free frugal tips are available at www.LivingOnADime.com.

Bring Camp Home -Amazon Jungle Fun

Face Paint
1 tsp. corn starch 1/2 tsp. cold cream
1/2 tsp. water food coloring
Mix all ingredients together in an old muffin pan and you are ready to paint. This amount is for each color.

Headdress – Glue feathers around a strip of paper and measure the strip to fit the child’s head. Then staple the strip.

Lagoon Juice- mix equal parts Mountain Dew and blue Kool-Aid

Swamp Juice- Add some green food coloring to lemonade for a marshy color!

Paper Mache boa snakes –1) Make paper mache paste using 1 part flour to 5 parts water. Boil for 3 minutes and let cool. Add 1 tablespoon salt to prevent paste from getting mold. 2) Blow up a long balloon for the snake shape. 3) Tear strips of newspaper, dip them in the paste and then squeeze off excel paste from the paper. Cover the balloon with one layer of newspaper. Let dry for 24 hours. Repeat each day until the desired thickness. 4)Paint after it has dried.

Spider Webs -Use the tape from old cassettes or black yarn to make spider webs.
