Descrption: Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) has selected Tacoma-based Optic Fusion Inc and its staff to help with the Resilient Overlay Networks (RON) Project. The M.I.T. RON Project is a fully-funded effort motivated by the desire of business to improve the robustness and availability of the Internet.
Optic Fusion’s Director of Network Development, Eric Stockwell is working with the MIT Professors and Graduate Students to establish Tacoma as a key research area for this project.
Optic Fusion was selected for this project based on its knowledgeable staff, large amount of Internet traffic and ability to support the project.
“This is an exciting project from a major University. Being asked to help improve the Internet is a great honor” Eric Stockwell, Director of Network Development said. “The data collected from Tacoma should be very beneficial to this project” he said.
Founded in 2000 Optic Fusion Inc. is a colocation and connectivity company located in the heart of downtown Tacoma Washington. Optic Fusion’s three business units provide Internet connectivity, computer colocation, network and cable plant design and installation, as well as, on and off site IT support.
