Descrption: Eric Stephens' of Rochester, NY, just signed a Major Publishing contract for his Hit Demo, "Spread My Wings And Fly", market tested by Kleopatra Productions (kleopatra.com) and signed to Vandor Motion Pictures, Phonorecords and Music Publishing Group (vmgworldwide.com), one of the Super Seven General Licensers.
The song endured a quake of new releases of Super Stars and Major Labels – and without bought airtime – logged in the Atlantic Satellite Top 2,500 Records Buyers Guide (atlantic-satellite.com), the world's most comprehensive music chart! "Spread My Wings And Fly" hit the charts at 2,377 in November 2005, bubbled under at 2,587 in December – in the midst of massive bought radio airtime by all major labels during the Christmas season. Then bounced back to 2,340 in January 2006, out of about 35,000 songs playing somewhere in the world at any given time and 45,000 during the Christmas-to-New Years season. Eric's accomplishment put his first major contract offer on the table earlier this month, May 2006.
Bought-radio determines virtually all commercial radio airplay and whether or not new releases will be heard at all in the United States. The heavy investments required for promotion, manufacturing, distribution, licensing and concert tours dictate the need of viable market indicators toward commercial acceptability regardless of the Artist's current status or their respective label. Buying a song onto radio produces the same results as any other paid commercial in hope the product will generate a profit on the investment.
Success of "Spread My Wings And Fly", without bought airtime, shows that Eric, as a songwriter, can compete within the music industry. Under the terms of his contract he does not sign away any potential profits nor any copyright protectives to his works. Eric's success happened because he refused to follow those ages-old but never-did-work myths about how the music industry really operates, 'be discovered,' 'send it in', et cetera.
He contacted Kleopatra's Productions, an authorized music industry SongBroker, and had his demo uploaded via electronic music services (EMS) into the promolibraries. From there, sufficient broadcast programmers, music directors and background music providers used the song for it to chart in the Atlantic 2,500.
Because the demo was master quality, VMG has released "Spread My Wings And Fly" for a full world wide market test. |
