Descrption: /1888PressRelease/ Medication is to make you well, right? Well, if you are taking more than one medication, the reactions between these medications could be harmful, if not deadly.
Dr. Frederic Lapitinsky, Director of Pharmacy at Down East Community Hospital will be presenting several medication safety seminars throughout Washington County over the next several months. Entitled “My Medication/My Safety” Brown Bag Seminars, these seminars will provide information on side effects, drug interactions, the importance of keeping an accurate and up-to-date list of all medications, and tips on how to organize medications.
All attendees are encouraged to bring all of their medications in a “brown bag”. Dr. Lapitinsky will review each attendees medications to look for possible drug interactions and make other recommendations.
“Our goal with these seminars is to educate the community in order to help people avoid problems with their medication. For instance, many chronic diseases like high blood pressure and heart failure can be exaserbated by medication reactions," states Lapitinsky.
