Descrption:
Successful artist and painter Caren Frost Olmsted, of CFO Designs, will be featured on the show “Moving Up,” Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 8 pm on the Learning Channel. The show highlights a one-of-a-kind mural in one of the residential homes that was hand painted by Olmsted in 2006. Olmsted has completed a wide variety of murals during her career in both residential and commercial locations. “This episode is a great way for people to see the difference hand painted artwork can make in a space,” states Olmsted, “murals and custom artwork in a home or business creates a very different feel than wall paper or simple straight painting.”
Olmsted also hand-paints, fully functional string instruments with a focus on new, used and rescued guitars. In addition to guitars, she turns cellos, violins, bases, fiddles, mandolins and other instruments into custom art pieces as well. Each instrument is a one-of-a-kind piece, painted with colors and images typical of Olmsted’s exciting and diverse style. Olmsted’s original designs are unlike any other painted guitars on the market and reflect the power and intensity of music as a passionate art form. “The most satisfying experience I can have is to see one of my guitars being played,” states Olmsted, “watching a musician play a guitar I have painted adds another dimension to my work, a dimension in which I have the privilege of watching the art in action.”
Olmsted has been an artist since early childhood and has worked in a variety of fields, including theater and education. Her company, CFO Design, was started in 2002. Olmsted has a creative talent for painting both abstract and lifelike imagery. “I love my work with CFO Design. Painting home interiors, faux finishes, murals, furniture, instruments and other commission art work is incredibly rewarding,” she exclaims. In April 2007 Olmsted will relocate her business to New Jersey with her husband and two sons. For more information about her commission artwork please visit http://www.cfodesign.com.
