Descrption: After all, writers “create” strange and wondrous worlds from sheer nothingness. Then they populate these environs with a multitude of inhabitants, whom they fashion to an image entirely of their making. And finally, they breathe life into these characters by imbuing them with spirited and lively animation. They are lord and master over this new-formed world--controlling each word, every action and everything else in between, right down to the minutest detail.
That, in my book, certainly ranks them with the Gods.
Some authors are idolized and have a great following--JK Rowlings, Stephen King and RL Stine, to name a few. So in that sense, one might say, they serve as Gods, as well.
My name is Mario S. Fedele, and I’m a writer. At age 57, the release of my first book, “Stories for a Stormy Night, Vol. 1”, has been a wonderful blessing and made me proud.
Do I feel like a God? The answer is, “Not at all!” I don’t feel anything remotely close to it. Not with all my aches and pains, and all my earthly worries that weigh me down.
But, I’m truly happy in my writing. It’s like retreating to my own Garden of Eden when indulging the literary muse. My mind is stimulated and my juices are flowing. There is no other rush like it.
I’m very humbled to see my words in print. Even more humbling are some of the favorable reviews the work has so far garnered. Goody Niosi from the Harbour City Star writes, "’Stories for a Stormy Night’ is an intriguing little book by Ladysmith resident Mario S. Fedele. The book contains two novellas, both of which contain a message… This is an interesting and unusual book. The author displays a highly tuned sense of imagination.” In regard to the first of the two novellas, Peter R. Harris writes, “’The Fear-O-Lots’ is a charming tale by Canadian author, Mario S. Fedele… It is a great story crammed with magic and mystery. It has a simple, yet finely constructed plot that moves along at a breath-taking pace--a real page-turner. But it is also a story with a poignant message for all of us and it is the amalgamation of these two elements that makes this novella unique…I thoroughly enjoyed ‘The Fear-O-Lots’ and look forward to reading more from this talented writer.” Concerning the second novella in the series, Vicki Stowers has this to say, “‘A Sickness by any Other Name’ is a story that will capture your attention from the beginning. It is here where Mario S. Fedele’s talent as a writer really shines. Even more so than the first, this tale is full of surprises, of twists and turns…. The ending, which comes all too soon, is sure to surprise and will make one think long and hard the next time they step out. I highly recommend ‘Stories for a Stormy Night, Vol. 1.’”
