Descrption: VM Productions is a group of filmmakers dedicated to bringing literature to the people. With their hard work and passion, they are committed to creating four cinematic adaptations inspired by the 19th century Russian novelist, F.M. Dostoevsky, a writer whose psychological penetration into the deepest recesses of the human heart had a profound influence on the modern culture. The first film in this series is completed and the second is underway.
“Notes from the New World” takes place in modern day LA and aims at highlighting the values and casualties of the human experience after 9/11.
STEVEN, the film’s hero, is on a quest to understand the depths of Dostoevsky as he studies for a role in a theatrical play. In doing so, he meets IRINA, a Russian call girl, only to find that she’s more complex than he expected. Steven becomes entangled with the Russian mafia, aggressive bosses to whom Irina is indebted. Matters become more complicated with the murky presence of SONIA, an innocent Mexican girl who speaks only Spanish, and is enthralled by Steven. Steven suspects that Sonia was send by mafia to spy on him. He soon finds himself caught between his real life and the roles he plays as an actor.
Auditions have begun and the pursuit for the perfect cast is top priority.A “Behind the Scenes” portion is being created for the DVD, which captures the cast and crew coming together to create this cinematic revisioning of Dostoevsky’s masterpiece |
